Partnering to Advance the Future of Dermatology and Save Lives
The Sequential Digital Dermoscopic Imaging (SDDI) process of detecting melanoma’s at an earlier stage is suboptimal. In one study, almost 40% of melanomas diagnosed in individuals that were under such dermoscopic surveillance. These late detections could have been if there was a better a better process.
Lumo’s mission is to help dermatologists detect skin cancers at earlier stages, when they are more curable and less costly to treat.
By automatically capturing dermoscopic images of every lesion and detecting Dynamic Ugly Ducklings® (outlier lesions based on their rates of transformation), LumoScanner and LumoTrack have the potential to significantly improve the clinicians’ ability to capture malignancies at an earlier stage.
Thru automated dermatoscope like imaging and automated mole-mapping LumoScanner can also change the economics of Total Body Photography imaging from one that is always self-pay and available to only a few, to one that can be profitably performed under reimbursement for the many. Currently 2/3 of counties in US do not have adequate access to dermatologists. In some states the situation is worse. For example, in Arkansas, 69 out of 75 counties do not have adequate access to dermatology services. Lumo aims to democratize the TBP imaging and make it available to all at-risk individuals.
